How To Build Back Links

Post  dannybindras on Fri Nov 19, 2010 1:01 am

Building back links should be an essential part of your Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), as if you build them well they provide free traffic to your website for years to come. But be warned build them wrongly and they can actually harm your Google Page Ranking.

If they are built the right way Google will just love your site and you can realistically aim to get in the top ten e.g. the first page on Google for your chosen keywords, unfortunately if Google sees the following happen then your website could disappear from Google for an awfully long time, or worse case forever!

Google looks for organic growth, and so if you suddenly have two hundred back links all from site with a Page Rank (PR) of seven (PR7) within less than a week of your site being launched, then sure enough it will look more than a little suspicious to Google. Indeed the only way that this can occurs is if you have bought back links from another site.

Personally I would not advise this as you may see a site offering a back link from a "Medical" site, and if you have a medical site it may able to you to buy a back link, but until you have handed over your money you will have no idea what site is linking to you, and with back links to sites with a high PR being offered at several hundred dollars per month (Sorry I should have mentioned that for most of the "Paid" back link services you have a monthly fee, not just a one off payment) this to me is a very high risk as you have no idea if the content of their medical site remotely matches yours!

Basically link building is not easy, and if someone offers some form of link building that is too good to be true then it probably is.

There is no quick route to building back links to fool Google into thinking you are the most popular guy on the block, if there was everyone would be doing it. So build links organically, but do not just focus on link building as your sole SEO strategy.

One of the best ways to build links is to find other blogs on a related topic to your content and post a meaningful comment on one of the posts with a link back to your website, but note that if you just post a spam comment it is unlikely to get approved.

backlinks as part of the page-ranking algorithm is that if a page is good, people will start linking to it. And the more backlinks a page, the better. But in practice it is not exactly true. Or at least you can always count on the fact that your content is good and people related to you.
